Louis Elmer Glaser was born October 28, 1920 in Covington, Ky., to the parents of Louis Alvin Glaser and Helen Kunk Butler. Uncle Blue had a brother Alvin (12/14/1922); sister, Verna Lee (1/10/1926) and records show that Helen gave birth to a premature baby boy that died 11/9/1924.
Helen died from Appendicitis on March 26, 1927, at the age of 23. She is buried at St. Mayr’s Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. An interesting note: Her tombstone has her name as Ellen – it is noted on the grave site info that her death certificate has her name as Helen and there is no explanation why tombstone says Ellen.
The 1930 census shows Uncle Blue living with his widowed father and siblings and a housekeeper (Katie Coy), at 214 – 13th Street in Cincinnati. Uncle Blue’s dad and Kathryn “Katie” Coy married sometime after 1930 and in the 1940 Census it shows his father is remarried to Nana Lulu Amspoker (a teacher) and they live with his children Alvin and Verna Lee., ages 17 and 13, respectively. Louis died 11/3/1968 and is buried at Loma Vista Memorial Cemetery in Fullterton, CA. His wife Nana is also died and is buried in CA.
Another interesting note: Uncle Blue’s father was a private in the US Army – enlisted 5/29/18 in Cincinnati and was discharged 4/4/19 (ETS) in Camp Sherman, Ohio. Records show he was discharged because of TB, Pulmonary, Chronic, Active. He was admitted into the US Homes for Disabled Veterans on 9/13/1921 and discharged to his wife Helen on 4/26/1922.
