Ralph and Virginia had 2 children – Kathryn Jean and Karen Lynn
1946-1950: As mentioned previously, Daddy and Uncle entered into a restaurant venture that ended in disaster for Uncle Ed. Daddy had gotten out earlier. Daddy worked here and there and was working for an appliance dealer in Louisville (E.E. Yenawine) doing appliance repair working on the GI bill.
Daddy built a house in Sellersburg, on Poindexter Lane down the hill from Papa and Grandma. It was a 2-room house (Kitchen and Bedroom) and it had an outhouse. Shortly after, he built onto the house adding another bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining room and utility room.
1951-1960: Daddy went to work for Commercial Credit Corporation in Louisville. He progressed will and in 1959 was promoted to a District Representative working with dealer factory relations. He was transferred to Springfield Ohio in 1960, but mother refused to leave Sellersburg and because of the unwillingness to move, Daddy was forced to resign from the job he enjoyed.
1960-1962: Worked for GRAMCO Financial in Louisville. Daddy was never happy with this job and resented more and more the situation that caused him to leave Commercial Credit. The resentment drove a wedge deeper into the widening gap of a marriage that had not been ideal for quite some time.
1962: Daddy went to work for PMA (Professional Mens Association) and he was happy with his job. His new job transferred him to Evansville, Indiana to open a new office at Welborn Hospital.
1965: Daddy and mother divorced
Despite a rocky marriage, During the 1950’s and early 1960’s Daddy and mother were active in the Masons, Eastern Star, school functions, Girl Scouts, 4-H, PTA, social affairs and the Republican Party -- we always had a house full of company. We were always having picnics and get togethers at our house. I have numerous news articles ... too many to include.
