All of us have brains that can go in several directions at the same time. By that, I mean that you can be listening to your teacher and at the same time be thinking about lunch and playing after school.
Even though you can do that at the same time, it is sort of like subtraction. You end up with less of something, in this case, less understanding about what your teacher was telling you.
Sometimes you will have need to understand most of your teacher’s instructions. But sometimes you need to understand and remember all of it. When you don’t do that, you are Not Paying Attention.
My childhood friend, Dan, was like many of you humans because he was in the habit of not paying attention. This was very unusual in our world because animals have to pay attention all of the time.
