Present: Henry Grace, President; Don Regner, Vice Pres- ident; Eileen Stradley, Secretary; Tom Hirschey, Security; Ken Buturla, Board Member; Kevin McNicoll, Board Member; Ray Domingue, Board Member, Sandra Lambert, Board Member; Sandy Smith, Board Member; and Mike Giroir, Board Member
Absent: Mike Bass. (Arrived Late) Quorum present. President - Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Henry
Grace. Pledged allegiance to the Flag.
Secretary’s Report – Tom noted two corrections that need to be made to the minutes of last meeting. The Security Report should have made it clear that the 39 patrol shifts averaged 6 hours per day. Also, the 186 patrol hours should have been re- ported as 182 patrol hours. Motion made and passed to accept the minutes of the last meeting as printed in the last issue of Newswatch with these two corrections.
Mike G. – Mike reported that 19 homeowners paid their dues in July, bringing the total paid members to 357 YTD. We had 607 paid members at this time last year. Several ideas were discussed about how to increase membership. Mike G. suggested we consider making the dues mandatory. It was not- ed that this would entail a change to the bylaws, which would require a separate vote from each of the 29 filings. Mike G. suggested a committee be formed to research the issue and possibly present it at the annual meeting.
The Shenandoah Homeowners Association dues remain at $30 per year. Please send in your dues, or you can pay them via PayPal on the website. (shawebwatch.com).
Treasurer’s Report - Mike clarified that the large receipt and disbursement totals for July included the insurance settle- ment check we received for the sign. The $6364.64 check was deposited into the Regular account then was transferred to the Entrance Sign/Reserve Funds account.
Security Report – Tom Hirschey – The patrol stats will be published in the Newswatch. Tom noted that we still have 7 marked and 1 unmarked patrol units in the subdivision. Tom reported that there was a burglary this week in Lake at White Oak. Our shared security camera took a picture that allowed the car and driver to be identified. Tom also reported that we are working on the possibility of a cooperative endeavor with The Woods S/D and Lake at White Oak to put a camera at the entrance to The Woods S/D at N. Achord Dr. This would allow us to share the costs between the three subdivisions with the distinction that SECPID puts up and maintains the cameras, not SHA. He will provide updates. Capt. Buqoi and Chester Welch were in attendance at the meeting. A resident in atten- dance noted that the recent signs put up by SECPID cautioning residents to lock their homes and cars and to keep weapons out of their cars was inadvertently causing some confusion and negative reactions from prospective home buyers. Chester explained that the signs were just a reminder for a short time span and that most of them were scheduled to be removed this week. An article will be published in the Newswatch about the National Day Out Against Crime to be held at St. Andrews Methodist Church on October 27.
