It may not need a permit based on size, but it appears to be in violation of the city ordinance for space requirements by being too close to the neighbor’s property. Ken reported it to the permit office for review. A resident asked about restrictions on putting in an above-ground pool. He was advised that there are no subdivision restrictions on that, but it must be properly enclosed. A house on Appommattox has a sea-can shipping container on site. Ken will follow up.
Beautification Report –Kevin - The “YARD OF THE MONTH” in Shenandoah Estates for May is 16104 Confederate. They will receive a $25 gift certificate from Cleggs Nursery. Congratulations! Residents are reminded that they can nominate yards for “Yard of the Month” on the website.
Entrance Sign Committee Report –Sandy and Don –Don received the foundation plan from the civil engineer. He talked to one contractor, Dozier Construction, who had a few questions. Don put him in touch with the civil engineer. After the questions are answered, Don will ask the contractor to give us a ballpark figure as to what the sign will cost.
Newswatch/Website Report – Ed Craig – Ed reported that March 2019 was the most activity the website has had since it was created. The site had 92 visitors per day last month. That was a record. Ed welcomes any recommendations for articles and Newswatch content. The deadline for articles for the May Newswatch is April 21. If you are not getting your copy of the newsletter, please let Ed know.
Tiger Point Development – Henry will attend the Planning Committee meeting on April 15 to represent the interests of Shenandoah Estates. He will ask the developer to make a concession to install speed bumps when he builds the streets to deter through traffic and speeding.
American Flags – The flags have been purchased to be placed in front of every house in Shenandoah. Tom noted that they need to be in the ground by Saturday, May 18, which is Armed Forces Day. The old flags will be picked up as the new ones are being put down. These should be brought to Tom or Don to bring to the American Legion for proper disposal.
The next monthly business meeting of the Shenandoah Homeowners Association Ltd. will be on Tuesday, May14, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jones Creek Library.
