All the time I get asked about Elvis Presley. I was acquainted with Elvis, but I don’t think anybody really knew Elvis but Elvis. One night in Hawaii at the Tom Jones Show, Elvis came in with an entourage including Priscilla, his cousin Sue Smith, Lamar Fike, Joe Esposito and more. It was the first time I had seen Priscilla and what a sight she was, long straight hair, a little makeup and a dress to die for. Anyhow, was Elvis a nice guy? Absolutely, was he a little different? Absolutely, you can’t do what that man did and be a choir boy. You know you’re a beyond being a huge star when hundreds, maybe thousands of people are impersonating you. I was thrilled one time when he asked me about his 68 Comeback Special. I told him I liked the production numbers, but the jam session blew me away.
