Been There... Done That!
this day that even though he may have had a tough time with me, his family loved me. And I now know that sometimes that is how those relationships work out.
I was always an entertainer first and a musician second. When I look back on it now, I feel the guitar was just a means to put me out on the stage where I could then do the entertaining. I used to trade lines back and forth with the audience and the best day for me was to get a heckler. I loved hecklers, those moments were custom fit for me and I don’t think we get people like that anymore.
Still, despite my talent and desire to perform, it was not until I was in the military that I started doing shows. I wasn’t an outstanding guitar player. I mainly played three or four-chord songs, but someone had heard I played, so I was soon in Special Services where the military assigned people for short periods of time. At that time music was not paramount in my life, but I was always trying to make up my own songs, which later paid off when I decided music was my ticket to something bigger and better in life.
