John Herring And The Poor Boys

We met John Herring as The Spartans and he was managing Trini Lopez at the time. When he took us on, he immediately saw Gary was going to be trouble because of the rivalry. I believed in John and John believed in me, but John didn’t think the group was going to work. John’s advice was to disband and for Bob and me to regroup and his suggestion resulted in The Poor Boys.
John Herring was a laid-back redhead from Vicksburg, Mississippi who didn’t have a whole lot to say as long as things were done right. John’s past before we met him was a little vague other than we knew he had been a pit boss in Las Vegas and was working with Trini Lopez. He had worked with several Vegas acts as
