CHAPTER 4 Hollywood
The Whisky A-Go-Go had become famous with a boost from a hit album by Johnny Rivers. I mean a monster album that took the nation and world by storm. On our opening night it was intimidating to look at the crowd and see huge movie stars like Steve McQueen, Jayne Mansfield and her husband Mickey Hargitay and many more in attendance. To say this country boy was nervous would be an understatement. The 60s was the time to be in Hollywood. The stars dressed to the nines and went from place to place in limousines with license plates that read “STAR.” Sunset or Santa Monica Boulevard were the places to star watch on about any night. It was hard to believe that I was mingling with people I had seen on the silver screen. I only wished that my friends could see me now.
