Page 9 - Whos A. Fraid

This time Smartest was not quite so tolerant and he told Fraid that he would have to sit out there all night just like the others. Fraid said that it was not fair and he was going to tell his parents. He went on and on about how scary it was and how unnecessary to be out all night and how the parents of the others should complain about how they were being treated.
Smartest just shook his head and said that Fraid would just have to learn what he would have to learn to be a successful Owl.
So, Fraid stayed out all night.
He was not happy and complained the entire time. He told all those around him that it was unnecessary to be out in the scary dark when they could get just as much food during the daytime. Many of the other young owls shook their heads in agreement while the others just looked puzzled.
When I asked Smartest about what had happened, he explained again that Fraid was scared of the dark. Mainly, his fear came from not being familiar with it. Smartest went on to say that maybe once Fraid got used to being out at night, he would stop complaining and learn to accept that the night is for the owls.
