I think Sally knew that she was not doing her best but she did not want to change. Maybe she did not want to work any harder. Maybe she was afraid that even if she did her best, her web would still look bad and she would be embarrassed.
It really does not matter why she was not doing her best. In our animal world, if you don’t do your best every time, pretty soon you don’t get to try anymore.
