Why not tell yourself, “These words are hard but if the others can learn them so can I. If I have to learn 20 words by Friday, all I really need to do is learn five each day and by the Friday test, I will know all of them. I know I can learn five words in a day.” By telling yourself these more realistic messages, you will be better able to plan and cope with the Angry Hornet spelling test.
Learning to act like the third character in the story is difficult and it takes effort and practice. Many adults, as well as most children have not learned how to act like the “Thinking Boy.” They get angry at the smallest thing or get their feelings hurt very easily. You will need to practice dealing with your "Angry Hornet" situations day in and day out. Ask your family and friends to help you recognize when you are handling your problems like the “Thinking Boy.”
