Before I could answer, two of the “fence cats” had pulled Carmen over to the wooden fence. Carlo, the leader of the fence cats stretched out and said, “Let us begin.” And with that, the fence cats started the most terrible sounding screening and growling you have ever heard.
I said it sounded terrible but that is just me, a crow. The “fence cats” and most of the other cats in the neighborhood think it sounds great. I am sure the fence cats would not be fond of having a tree full of Crows cawing all at the same time. But what is music to them is not music to me and maybe to you. But to the other cats, it was wonderful.
Carmen just sat there with her big eyes looking at one then another of the “fence cats”. I could tell she was impressed with their “singing”. Then they stopped and Carlo turned to Carmen and said, “Now it is your turn.” I could tell that Carmen wanted to run but Carlo moved a little closer to her and said, “It is alright to be a little frightened, just do your best” and then he smiled at her.
