   SHENANDOAH RESIDENTIAL STREETS
There are 72 streets in Shenandoah Estates, all of which were designed and constructed as residential streets. Our streets carry an amazing volume of daily traffic serving the daily needs of about 2,100 residences, and the rush hour and daily activities of all our resident families and non-residents traveling through Shenandoah Estates.
In addition there are: two schools; one church; numerous school busses; trash and recycle collection trucks;
mail delivery; FedEx, UPS and Amazon Prime
package delivery; A/C, plumbing, electrical and
other residential maintenance vehicles; and, utility service trucks. There are emergency vehicles from ambulance services, St. George Fire Department and law enforcement, all responding to emergency calls.
Every street in Shenandoah Estates is two lanes wide, designed and intended for unimpeded two-way traffic flow. Streets are unmarked except for the safety crosswalks at and near Shenandoah Elementary School.
Each vehicle parked on the street obstructs the smooth and safe flow of daily traffic, and creates a hazard and inconvenience for every other vehicle. Yet there are vehicles in a number of locations in Shenandoah Estates consistently “garaged” in the street for “convenience”, rather than parked in the residents’ driveways, carports or garages. These vehicles obstruct the view of oncoming vehicles and force drivers of vehicles of all sizes to swing into oncoming traffic flow.
Shenandoah Estates residents are proud to be part of this neighborhood and SECPID is proud to represent the interests of every resident. We request that each resident consider the safety and convenience of every other resident and vehicle when choosing where it is “convenient” to “garage” your vehicle.
NATIONAL DAY OUT AGAINST CRIME
The National Day Out Against Crime will be observed again this year, with representatives from all our very important and very much appreciated law enforcement and first responders! Featuring fire engines from St. George Fire Department, and East Baton Rouge Sheriff Department Swat Team vehicles, boats and cars for kids of all ages. Oh, don’t forget the food and drinks, and entertainment including a blow-up kids’ slide
Once again, St. Andrews Methodist Church is kind enough to make their facilities available for this afternoon event where Shenandoah Estates residents can meet and thank the professionals who work every day to keep us safe and protect our lives, health and property. [
