Beautification Report –Kevin - The “YARD OF THE MONTH” in Shenandoah Estates for March is 5768 Holly Springs. They will receive a $25 gift certificate from Cleggs Nursery. Congratulations! Residents are reminded that they can nominate yards for “Yard of the Month” on the website.
Entrance Sign Committee Report – Sandy reported that the sign construction has begun. The foundation has been completed and the framing of the taller structure has begun. We have paid Dozier Construction the first 3 draws on the construction schedule, totaling approximately $20,000 so far. We have received about $13,500 from SECPID so far for the project. The next step is to start stacking the cinder block base for the stacked stone. Mike suggested that we create a committee to plan a special dedication ceremony for the new sign once it is complete. Henry will follow up. A suggestion was made to ask Garrett Graves to donate to us a flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol. Darryl suggested we have the Boy Scouts from St. Andrews Church present the flag in a ceremony on Memorial Day. A resident suggested we get the Advocate to send a photographer to the ceremony. More details will follow.
Newswatch/Website – Ed reported that the website visits are staying steady. He also reported that the new printer for the Newswatch is doing well. He noted that he is working on the March issue of the
Newswatch, and it is going along fine. He stated that he needs a few more advertisers, and he is asking for suggestions for articles, such as information about the Shenandoah Spring Fair or any projects or events that St. Andrews is working on. A suggestion was made that he print something about the noise ordinance and the animal control ordinance.
