We birds now understand that sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to go and sometimes they do. There is no reason to become angry or to blame others just because you don’t get what you want or because someone else got what they wanted.
When it came time for the Hummingbirds to be considered by the Congress, one of the Hummingbird leaders spoke up. “We are the smallest of all the birds and realize that there are many things that our size will keep us from doing. We are not concerned about that and are willing to do our best.
We would like to suggest that the Congress consider the following: Since many other birds will want the insects and fruits of the world and are more capable then we are of getting them, we want only the nectar of flowers, which no other bird will want.”
The Hummingbird continued the speech. “In this new world we are facing, which is the reason for this Congress, we know that flowers do not bloom all year long in any one place. Therefore, we are willing to fly from the top of the world to the bottom, following the blooming flowers so that we do not cause damage to any one area of the world. We will not compete or fight
with any other birds for food or space and will always be polite and kind.”
The members of the Congress had nothing to add and accepted the Hummingbirds’ request. And so as the saying in the legend goes, “The birds with the smallest bodies had the biggest hearts.”
