P. 24
Because of your Stinky Thinking, you have Thumbs Down behavior and really don’t try your best to learn the subject. Then, when you make a poor grade, you "congratulate" yourself and think, “I was right, it is too difficult and I am too dumb to even learn this.”
In the second example, you think someone else is too popular to want to be your friend. Because of your Stinky Thinking, you may never make any attempt to talk with this person. Since you don’t act like you want to talk with them, they probably will think that you don’t like them. Once again, your Stinky Thinking leads to Thumbs Down behavior.
In the story, it may seem as though the birds had to make some pretty big changes. But the changes that they had to make are no greater than the changes you will have to make as you grow up. The difference is that in the story the birds had to make only one change and that was the end of it. In your life, you will have to make changes throughout your life.
You will go from a young child living at home, to a grade school student. Once you get that all figured out, you are in high school and then you start dating. From there you may go to college or to work. You may get married and have children. You may become a professional or a boss. Eventually, you may retire but the changes keep happening. Start developing your own Congress to help you deal with the life changes which are sure to come your way.
