UPDATE ON SAFETY AND SECURITY
There have been several advances in SECPID’s continuing efforts to provide and promote security and safety in Shenandoah Estates. As previously reported, new cameras have replaced older, outdated technology, and additional camera sites have been added.
As part of the updates, two smaller cameras were installed at the Shenandoah Elementary School main intersection to provide 24/7 day/night full-motion coverage. The still frames below attest to the quality of the images from coverage of this critical area.
This coverage is in addition to cameras covering every other entry point into these same roads!
In September, an effort begun almost the day SECPID began operations culminated in the acquisition of a radar gun for use by any of SECPID’s patrolling Deputies who do not already have one assigned to them by the EBRSO. This device is maintained at the Kleinpeter Substation in locked storage under 24 hour camera surveillance, and is available ONLY to commissioned law officers assigned to SECPID’s patrols.
Why did SECPID invest a little over $2,600 in the device, secure storage, and ancillary equipment? The first night it was used, the Deputy issued five speeding citations in multiple areas in Shenandoah Estates, one over 35 MPH and four in excess of 40 MPH, speeds comparable to traffic on the 5 wide lanes of Jones Creek Road!
Parish ordinance and common sense safety concerns dictate the 25 MPH speed limit in residential areas. Whether transient or resident, THIS MEANS YOU!
