Robert S Bailey Jr MD MD & Mark H H Blecher MD MD for their leadership and and dedication to Wills Eye Hospital our patients and and residents ROBERT S BAILEY JR MD Dr Bailey served as Director of the Cataract and Primary Eye Eye Care Service at at Wills Eye Eye for 20 years He is an an an an expert in in in anterior segment surgery surgery and has trained more than 350 residents in in in in cataract cataract surgery surgery surgery He has developed courses in in in in cataract cataract surgery surgery that include utilization of wet labs to to advance residents’ skills as as well as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a surgical mentorship program that pairs attending surgeons and residents Dr Bailey is a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a diplomate of of of of of the the American American Board of of of of of Ophthalmology a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Fellow of of of of of the the American American College of of of of of Surgeons and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Clinical Associate Professor at at at at at Thomas Jefferson University His numerous publications presentations and and and and lectures focus on on on on on on cataract and and and anterior segment surgery and and and their complications Currently in in in in his role at at at at at Wills Eye Dr Bailey continues to specialize in in in in routine and and and high-risk cataract surgery and and and provides diagnosis and and and treatment of comprehensive ophthalmology patients He serves on numerous committees and has an an integral role in in in in in training residents in in in in in cataract surgery MARK H H BLECHER MD Dr Blecher began his career as a a a a a a resident resident then chief resident resident at at Wills Eye Eye Hospital He served as as Co-Director of of the Cataract and Primary Eye Eye Care Service for for 18 years He has treated a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a wide range of of of ophthalmic diseases and and been at at at the forefront of modern cataract and and refractive surgery In recent years he has been concentrating on on premium cataracts and new cataract cataract surgical technology Dr Blecher is also Senior Medical Editor of of Review of of Ophthalmology Ophthalmology the most widely read publication in in in in in in in Ophthalmology Ophthalmology He lectured abroad and and and remains active in in in in in in in in training surgeons and and and and residents presenting papers and and and and giving courses at at the the the annual meetings of of of the the the American American Academy of of of Ophthalmology and and and and the the the American American Society of of of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Currently in in his new role at at at at Wills Eye Eye Dr Blecher is is focused on on optimizing operations for the the Cataract and Primary Eye Eye Eye Care Service as as well as as the the Wills Eye-employed comprehensive ophthalmology ophthalmology community offices He also continues to to provide surgical training to to ophthalmology ophthalmology residents
