HIGH FEMME
overt femme and perfectly pretty moments were an overarching message. this was juxtaposed by the rugged and natural trend in the
best way. constantly, we found this femme message popping up both at the premier vision forums as well as in shopping.
clips were not slowing down. it was still a wonderful lace alternative and emotional fabrication everyone had on their line. they helped carry this femme trend as a big idea in a versatile way. our favorite way to explore further into this fabrication was by adding dye effects on top of these mixed content clip jacquards. in doing this we anticipated some yarns picking up the dye and others rejecting it. this created a softened look that we were thrilled with.
jacquards and brocade became more relaxed and organic in feeling. we loved turning to the back side of the fabric to find a more blurred version of the pattern and using this as the face. inspired by the enchanting dried flower art found throughout europe, you could see that thread making its way into fashion with so many floral jacquards imitating this look. we also found a range of nature inspired patterns such as moiré and woodgrain which were great replacement for animal patterns and motifs.
all over embroidery was a key novelty fabrication in skirts and dresses throughout the ss runway shows. we also found this to be true in the pv forums. the hand was overall more artful with delicate line work. exquisite and unexpected stitch mixing in pop colors were eye catching and we certainly gravitated toward these versions the most. that said, black and white versions were graphic and offered the same level of emotion.
