 MODERN KNITS
while shopping we payed close attention to how knits were being shown on a range of designer’s lines. overwhelmingly, knits were clean, compact and unfussy. overall they were sculptural and fluid.
knits stripes softened and became easier with hints of femme through coloring. they were faded and effortless while in cotton handed wearable textures.
tissue and tech textures were a big message at pv that we quickly gravitated towards. we saw this trend in micro textures, eyelets, jacquards and mesh versions. pastel and acid colors alike looked incredible in this fabric grouping.
sweater-like compact textures have thicker and more dimensional yarn mixing. versions of this help emphasize the tweed trend as a knit version.
shine and sensual knits were the largest call out of the season in the knit world. there were pleated slinky jerseys as well as matte jerseys in bright colors and even tonal jacquards. foiled plissé and lurex textures added dimension and texture. sleek and gleaming fluidity was how it was spoken to in the forums and we found this perfectly describes the trend.
saturated colors interoperated through variations of marled textures as well as exaggerated compact ribs were impactful. these fabrications were used in easy tee shapes replacing jersey basics.
towel terry was a standout and was found as a terry update as well as a fleece replacement going into the warmer months. in the forums it was showcased in over dyed and vivid color versions as well as jacquards.
