 NATURE INSPIRED
mimicking the nature trend as well as the sustainable movement, this was an overarching aesthetic that could not be missed. a word seen on repeat in the forums was vegetal, meaning ‘relating to plants’. you could see the true passion for this trend come out through all talented weaver’s and textile designer’s creations. it was inspiring to say the least. we really enjoyed seeing how stores merchandised this trend as well. in some cases, it was layered in a tonal way that emphasized natural textures. in other cases, it was shown back to tech or shine which was perfection when done right.
weave mixing was another stand out from acne as well as isabel marant and the brunello cucinelli collection. yarn dyes and jacquards had an expansive range of yarn mixing making beautiful and unexpected blends. hints of pop color and neon back to neutral bases continued.
there was so much creativity with moving on rumpled, crinkled and cracked fabrications. in many cases mills were switching up base cloths to be more novel and unexpected. the movement of the texture was exaggerated and complex.
natural dye on textural jacquards were a love from the spanish mill athanea. the combination of organic fibers and natural dyes results in fabric that is 100% biodegradable. some of my favorite plants used were rubia cordifolia and tagetes erecta (madder root and marigold).
natural inspired laces, embroideries, clip textures and eyelets added
high emotion for this season’s editorials. Additionally the dior rtw spring line highlighted this trend.
