SPRING SHINE
shine was a major trend called out at premier vision and was a consistent find while shopping in europe. it was commonly merchandised as an accent back to natural textures making a high impact. it was the perfect juxtaposition of sensual back to rugged. these accents lifted the total assortments and drew you in- it felt effortless. there was a notable shift in clip jacquards as they were found in larger scales and exploded patterns as they fell behind blurred prints.
iridescent was prominent at pv as well as on the runway. valentino had a taffeta version that was an amazing pulse to their most recent show. at pv we saw a wide range of this trend, from all over versions to small lurex hints integrated in mixed yarns. a fun find in the forums were sequins with unexpected color mixes that create an iridescent look.
a memorable find at the show antique jacquards with a heritage feeling. we first saw this at an exquisite italian mill, lyria, that r2l frequents. additionally, this lovely trend was a showcased fabrication on the current line for acne.
casual versions of shine were everywhere- yarn dyes with shine lurex mixed in, overdyed satin burnouts, washed fluid satin, shine within yarn dyes as well as lurex gauze textures. tarnished cupped sequin techniques were an interesting casual twist as well.
