LACE OPTIMISM
pv forums were filled with a sea of vibrant colors in different lace textures mixed with all over embroideries building layers upon layers of texture. very reminiscent of the latest spring preen show which was unapologetically feminine.
easy cotton handed white, ivory and cream boho lace and embroideries were a staple in everyone’s spring lines as well as another editorial favorite. this fabric group has not evolved greatly however the range of silo’s we found them in gave this easy fabrication new life.
innovation in dye technique was not slowing down, in fact the base qualities designers were playing with for this medium were evolving. the italian mill vanoni showed us their intricate take of dye techniques on lace and embroidery as well as 3d textures. we came back inspired to play with different techniques on a range of lace textures that we feel the anthro customer would love.
eyelet was a significantly smaller footprint at the shows. with that said, we had two takeaways for this fabric grouping. from pv we were seeing eyelet in multicolored graphic versions that used a mix of feminine colors. secondly, in shopping the brand sézane showed this fabrication in relaxed simple patterns with saturated over dye and a tumble wash.
