 EFFORTLESS STRIPES
while shopping europe it was clear that stripes were on an upswing as a trend. every designer line had beautifully assorted stripes that pulled together the color story as a whole. they were commonly used as a narrator item that helped tell a story. with this new serge of stripes, it’s important to point out that generally they were not fussy. they were easy and simple with trend forward color combinations. jw anderson, isabel marant and venessa bruno were just a few examples of brands hosting this trend. after shopping we then attended premiere vision where the forums were a major conformation in the importance of stripes going into the spring 2021 season. they had a significantly larger footprint than any other yarn-dye and mimicked the concept of ease with trend forward color.
easy ‘non-stripe stripes’ in natural textures with mixed yarn interest was a great way to add easy layers of textures. we saw this fabric type in a range of silos from the chore coat to easy pull on pants as well as minis.
feminine colorways in airy textural base qualities with hints of shine looked effortless and was must have item. sea had great examples of this trend as did ace + jig as well as smaller brands found in antwerp.
the classic french blue + white variegated stripe combo made a statement and we personally gravitated towards this as a concept. inspired by heritage french linens, this was a find that kept popping up throughout the trip. it felt fresh, easy and effortless.
