 COTTON EASE
with linen becoming a less used raw material due to cost, cotton and cotton blends were predominate when shopping. garment dyes on femme clip textures, jacquards + dobbies were a shirting must. we also loved seeing rumpled eyelet and all-over tonal embroideries. we were inspired by a few brands while shopping europe and experimented in house with a range of textures.
gauze continued as a loved fabrication across a range of designers. with a more modern look and elaborated weaves, gauze has evolved to look less crunchy. double gauze was the most common find as a repeated base cloth, presumably to help the tear strength and offering a transitional weight for the still chilly months.
clipped shirting was found in a wide range of scale, motif and techniques. it ranged from boho blurred
patterns, easy clips in soft multi colors as well bold large-scale pattern in tonal colorations. the french brand soeur had the loveliest versions of this fabrication.
