COURSE POLICIES
1. All assignments, projects, chapter reading questions/cases, etc. will follow the guidelines below:
Text chapter readings and assigned questions/cases must be read before the material is discussed in class.
Please submit assignments via Canvas®.
Save each document using the appropriate format, e.g., for your facilitator report:
LASTNAME__FIRSTNAME__COURSE#__CHAPTER#__DESCRIPTION__
For every assignment, include a header (with the appropriate information) on each document.
NO ATTACHMENTS TO E-MAIL, ETC. WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS SPECIFIED.
All submitted material must be typed/word processed unless otherwise specified.
Format for writing documents: 1.5 lines spaced, 11 size font, Times New Roman font.
Put your name on each sheet and the name of the class. *
Cite references when applicable, using APA style.
Correct grammar and punctuation are expected. If instructor encounters too many spelling, grammar, punctuation or
usage errors, your grade will be reduced by at least 20%. If writing errors are a problem for the student, feel free to
have your writing proofed and edited before you turn it in for a grade. The tutoring center at Elmira College is a
marvelous resource for polishing student’s writing. USE IT.
All students are expected to obtain and turn in all assignments, etc. according to the class schedule. Students who miss
a class for whatever reason are still responsible for submitting work on time and determining what, if any assignments
are due the next class session.
All reading assignments must be completed before the scheduled class. Students will be responsible for all material
discussed in class, including current events as well as all material covered in the reading assignments.
ASSIGNMENTS SUBMITTED ON THE SAME DAY THEY ARE DUE BUT MISSED THE “CLASS TIME”
DEADLINE WILL BE PENALIZED 20%.
ASSIGNMENTS MORE THAN 24 HOURS LATE WILL RECEIVE “0”/ZERO CREDIT.

2. The required course books and appropriate class materials (syllabus, notebook, assignments, must be brought
to each class. Each student must have their textbooks by the first week of class and bring to each class session.

➔ (2 Week of the term): Failure to adhere to this academic course policy will result in a 2-point deduction
for every class session the student does not bring their own textbook/course materials to the class session. The
point dedication will be taken from your CYKD assignment.
3. Using your CELL PHONE OR INTERNET (personal use) during class time (e.g., sending/receiving calls,
texting, recording, photo-taking) is NOT ALLOWED during the class session.
➔ If a student is caught surfing or texting in-class (non-academic/class related), a “WARNING” will be given
to the student. The second text/internet surfing (non-academic) offence, a 2-point deduction will be taken
from your CYKD assignment.
4. The course schedule is tentative and subject to change. All changes to the schedule will be announced in class
and via Canvas®.
5. Missed in-class assignments cannot be made up. Students with a valid excuse (usually medical excuse) for
missing an exam or assignment can make up the requirement up by instructor’s’ arrangement. Students who
miss an exam without an acceptable excuse will receive a zero. There will be no make-ups of missed exams.
6. Students will be expected to participate in class discussions. This course is a dynamic mixture in which
participation and discussion is not only encouraged but is expected. The class meetings you are required to be
professional, engaged, and prepared. For each class, bring your course books, and laptop/notebook.
7. ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN EVERY CLASS.
Two unexcused absences for whatever reason are viewed as excessive, and the student will be so informed.
No penalty on your grade.
