                                       Hello Brethren,

I hope I find you all well and in good spirits, and that you have been
         enjoying the summer weather.
                                                                       th
Following the Government guidance changes on the 19 of July and
the recent letter from the Grand Secretary detailing the return to
Masonic Meetings as we remember them, we look towards
September and I am pleased to say the restart of Freemasonry for
all Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Brethren, as the local suspension I
                                                 th
imposed will be lifted on Monday 30 August.
It’s been a long wait, some 18 months, since we last had a Lodge
Meeting and I am sure, like me, you miss that special friendship and
camaraderie that we enjoy. The Deputy Provincial Grand Master,
Somerset Mark Executive and I are looking forward to being with you
         again.
The re-arranged Provincial Meeting will I hope trigger a strong re-start of
                                                                                                            th
Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Meetings in Somerset. The Meeting will be on Saturday 4
September starting at 11.30 at the Webbington Hotel Axbridge, where I will at last be able to
invest the Mark Provincial Team and congratulate those Brethren receiving past rank
promotion, plus investing Brethren promoted to Royal Ark Mariner Provincial Grand Rank

The Meeting has been slimmed down from the usual Provincial Style Meeting as I am
conscious that we need to ease our way back, so I anticipate the Meeting lasting 1¼ hours.
We will then have a 2-course lunch which will include the Ladies as is the tradition in
Somerset. In conjunction with the Webbington Hotel Covid measures will be in place and we
respectfully ask that you consider wearing a face mask for the benefit of all the Brethren and
         hotel staff.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Executive and myself will be out in force from
September offering assistance and support to all our Lodges and I hope that senior
members, particularly Grand Officers in all Lodges, will also help - the main focus being
support, encourage and assist as like me I expect it’s been a long while since that blue book
of ritual has occupied our thoughts.

One thing the last 18 months has shown is that keeping in touch is so vital to our well-being
so as we move forward Lodge Meetings and social media will both play an active role in
sharing information, so I am pleased to say that the Open House Meetings which have been
a great success in this Province will be continued starting again in September. The format
will change to a daytime meeting and with an agenda to suit the Lodge activities in
Somerset. You will receive your direct mail Make your Mark every two weeks as well as this
Keystone magazine twice yearly. Don’t forget to visit the Somerset Mark Mason Web Site
plus our Twitter and Facebook pages.

The Executive is very keen to get going and I hope you share our enthusiasm to attend
Lodge Meetings. I look forward to your company very soon.
