SCHOOL WALKOUT TO PROTEST GUN VIOLENCE
In the wake of several school shootings across the United States in the 2017-2018 academic year, Priory students across all grades spoke up. Joining their peers across the country, participating students were supported in their choice to walk out of class at 10 a.m. on March 14 and stand united in peaceful protest in Schilling Square. Led by the Dedicated to Diversity club, students read aloud the names of the 17 individuals killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School two months earlier, rang a bell after each name was read, and paused in reflection. The chamber singers performed, and a prayer was offered. Priory’s administration ensured that all students felt safe and respected whether they chose to participate in the walkout or not.
