This year's eighth graders have been very
lucky to learn in a new environment. Over the summer of 2013, Priory renovated the middle school section, expanding many of the previous buildings and adding a few new ones. Before this year, the eighth graders were able to experience two years in the older, more rustic buildings. Many eighth graders have welcomed this change. Max Leiter says, “It's definitely a lot more spacious and modern, huge improvement over the last two years.”
Some people may not have noticed some technology changes. For example, the lights in the library automatically turn off when there is no movement. Jasmine Tang said, “When I go into the library early in the mornings, I don't move around a lot inside because I'm just sitting there studying.
1. Anna Gutow, Sammie Sargent, and Jasmine Tang work happily in the new library. 2. Frannie Mejia and Katia Queener cooperate as they work on an upcoming assignment. 3. Mikhail Saliba reads attentively, as a good Priory student does. 4. Jack Nash, Grace Hammond, and Isaac Roybal, pay attention in class to achieve the best education possible. 5. Claire Ryland, Chris Brugger, and Morgan Serughetti enjoy their last year in middle school together in their new hangout, the library.
If I don't move for a while, the lights turnoff and I have to jump up and down to turn them on again.” One of the major upgrades to the buildings would be the size and colors. Tatiana Reese said, “Learning in the new buildings is a little better than last year. There is more space so I don't feel like the classroom is too small, it is just the right size.”
Clearly, eighth grade students are able to better enjoy learning in this new environment. Alex Han describes his experience learning in the new buildings with, “They do less to agitate my OCD and they just look a lot cleaner in general, which helps me focus better.” Generally, eighth graders enjoy the change from rustic to modern. Charis Chiu sums it up with, “The classrooms are bigger, warmer, and comfier.”
