8TH GRADERS VISIT WASHINGTON, D.C.
Priory’s substantial middle school humanities curriculum culminates in 8th grade with a week-long trip to Washington, D.C. According to 8th grade humanities teacher Kyle Utsumi, “Priory eighth-graders travel to our nation’s capital each fall to experience American history first-hand. Visits to monuments, museums, and seats of government open students’ eyes to the story of
our country’s founding and the challenges Americans have faced and overcome throughout history. In addition to laying the groundwork for their history studies, the class enjoys time together outside the classroom, building bonds of friendship and unity that last long after returning to the Priory.” The September trip is an excellent way for students to kick off the school year and apply what they witnessed and learned in Washington, D.C. throughout the year and into their high school experience.
