SUSTAINING DONORS
SUSTAINING DONOR PROFILE: KEN TEHANEY ‘66
For Ken Tehaney ‘66, the Priory has been a journey through the years and with different lenses. His relationship
with the school began when he was a student, and deepened when he returned to the school as a parent of three
children. He was a member of the Board of Trustees, and continues to be a member of the Building and Grounds
Committee during the major campus transformation. Through the decades, Ken has and always will be, a friend
of the school. Asked why he continues to care for and support the school each year, Ken replied, “The Priory is a
compassionate community that teaches you to care for yourself, for others, and to give back for the gifts you have
received.” Ken has continued caring for and making a gift to the school for each of the last 23 years. In fact, Ken ties with seven other Priory donors for second place in the most consecutive years of support.
“The Priory has been extremely important to our family as it has continued to evolve,” Ken says. He shares that seeing the Priory as a parent was particularly special. “The Priory community has a tremendous amount of humility and that kind of stewardship is infectious, not just for the parents, but for the kids, who are learning to take care of themselves, and to take care of others.”
It’s the personal attention that the Priory gives that remains memorable to Ken. “You’re talking about the middle school and high school years, which can be a tough time for children to learn how to deal with all the harshness that may come about. The Priory community has found a way to make sure that none of the students fall through the cracks and that they reach their greatest potential.” For Ken as an alumnus, alumni parent, and past trustee, the school continues to teach the values and importance of intentionality. “The Priory has always been very concerned with conscious living and living in the moment. Time is the truest valuable gift we have. They do a great job of teaching that and purpose in life.”
