1. Zach Zafran (9) manipulates the defenders with well- controlled dribbling and speedy, forceful attacks. To Zach, making the varsity team as a freshman is both “a dream come true and an amazing achievement that taught [him] how hard work pays off.” He hopes to “show people that [he] can compete in this level despite [his] age.” His favorite moment of the season was when “Adrian hit a buzzer beater and put the team on top”.
2. After blocking a shot from the other team, Ayo Aderoboye (12) passes the ball to Emmanuel Ajanaku- Makun (12), who finishes with a beautiful dunk. Emmanuel believes that the past three years on the Priory basketball team “allowed [him] to combine his advantageous height and the skills he developed through many hours of practice to become a better player.”
3. Jerry Tang (12) dribbles down the court, protecting the ball as his teammates generate plays. Jerry is planning on continuing his basketball journey in college, and his goal for the team this year is for the players to “give [their] best effort and live up to the team’s potential.”
4. Lucas Harris (12) joins his fellow teammates for a cheer before the game. Unlike previous seasons, the Varsity Boys Basketball team features many younger players, as the seniors are joined by one junior, several sophomores and a freshmen. Jerry noted that “the team’s visit to San Diego was a good bonding experience and allowed everyone to get to know each other well.”
5. Adrian Lavalle (12) finds space between the defenders, taking advantage of a perfect opportunity to score. As a senior, Adrian has dedicated a lot of time and effort to the boys basketball team, and his favorite moments are “when the team puts up an entertaining game, where [they] play hard, play together, and beat [their] rivals.”
