Laura Hurlbut:
Exceptional Athlete
Among other honors, Senior Laura Hurlbut was named one of three Priory “Athletes of the Year.” A three-sport athlete, Laura competed for Priory in Varsity Cross Country, Soccer, and Track and Field.
Laura’s achievements this past year include PSAL Champion in Cross Country, PSAL First Team in Soccer, and a 7th place finish in the 3200-meter run at the Central Coast Section (CCS) Track and Field Championships.
Coach Mark Stogner feels Laura’s defining moment as an athlete, though, was during the CCS Cross Country championships. Yards away from first place and a CCS championship, Laura fell. As the other girls ran past her, she gathered herself, got up, andfinishedtherace. Notonlydidshefinish, butshe qualified for the regionals. The third Hurlbut to graduate from Priory, Laura joins brother, Ben, and sister, Mary, at Stanford University in the fall where she’ll compete in Track and Field as a PAC-10 Athlete.
