ST ANNE'S

           A TYPICAL DAY &

           GENERAL INFORMATION

Millfield is a fantastic place to live and work. It offers DAILY
amazing opportunities. We’ll do our best to help you settle
in. However, at some stage, you will feel low: homesickness, ROUTINE
missing your parents/friends/pets, longing to be in your own
bedroom again…this is perfectly normal. The times you 07:00 Wake-up
want to phone home will probably be those low times.
ADVICE TO BOYS 07:20 Chits issued (medical, shop, etc)
Think about talking to us before worrying your parents.
We are here for you. Try to phone home when you can and 07:40 Bus departs from St Anne's
give a balanced view of your new life. As a rule, you will to school
tend to give the gloom and doom more readily than the
good things. This can be really tough on your parents. Think
about restricting calls home to agreed times – unless there’s 08:00 Breakfast at school
a real emergency. Do not make these calls after 10pm at
night when the House needs to be quiet and you (and your 08:30 Registration with Group Tutor
parents) need their sleep. Always let a member of the House -08:55 The school day begins
team know if you are worried about anything, however
trivial you think it is. We can only help you if we know there
is a problem. Please always come and speak to us! 16:00 Transport back to St Anne's begins
           ADVICE TO PARENTS
Please don’t hesitate to make contact with us if you are 18:00
worried about your son, especially in the early weeks. Boys Dinner in the House dining hall
have a tendency not to ring home when they are busy and (apart from Fridays and Saturdays)
happy, leaving parents worried. The reverse can also be true:
occasionally boys have a ‘bad day’, ring home and offload all 18:30 Roll call and house meetings
their concerns on their parents, leaving you worried. Please
don’t hesitate to get in touch for reassurance in this event.
                                                                         19:00 Prep begins
           FIRST WEEKS
We hope you will soon feel that the House is a friendly,
comfortable place in which to spend your school years. 20:30 Prep finishes for all students
We will have lots of meetings for you to get to know each
other and the staff when you first join. You will go through a
thorough induction process so you are aware of all the rules
of the House and school quickly and at the same time, be 20:45
confident with your surroundings. - 21.30 Free time
Our aim is to make St Anne’s a happy and relaxed
environment for its boys so that they may thrive within 21:30 Orderly duties and device hand in
the school and achieve their full potential academically, - 21.45
sportingly, dramatically and musically - or in whatever way is
right for them. Mutual consideration, tolerance and respect
are essential if this is to be achieved; boarding life does 21:45 Year 10 to bed (lights out 10.00)
require everyone to respect rules for the good of all rather
than necessarily permitting individual freedoms. If you are
boarding for the first time, this is an important point to bear 22:00 Year 11 to bed (lights out 10.15)
in mind as you will be living as part of a community.
22:30 Sixth Form to bed (lights out
We look forward to seeing you soon. 10.45)
