"Change is the essential ingredient we all need to improve the lives of those around us."
The challenges we face in Aged Care cleaning stem from our issues revolving around the lack of cleaning supervision, the use of casual / part time staff and the challenges with cleaners not being resourced with the right amount of time, tools, training and certification.
These issues combined with cleaners often doing their own thing and using whatever cleaning tools they have often results in the movement of dirt and germs around the facility instead of actual cleaning and disinfection. Corners being cut in cleaning and disinfection can result in residents and staff being put at risk.
This Aged Care Cleaning Systems brochure pulls together many different solutions that you can use to create your very own best practice cleaning program.
In building your Aged care cleaning program it is important that your system includes the following:
• Each area should be cleaned with a separate mop or cloth
• Mops and cloths should be moistened correctly to ensure thorough clean and pickup instead of spread
• Trolleys should be setup with enough mops and cloths for each area
• Laundries should be setup to launder throughout the day ensuring clean, ready-to-use microfibre is on hand when required
•
•
•
•
•
The trolley needs to be setup with all the required tools and consumables to minimise trips back to the cleaners room
Cleaners need to be trained on what tasks should be completed within each clean type
Cleaners should be following a specific schedule
TouchPoints should be a priority and should be cleaned in a specific order
Trolleys should be cleaned and disinfected daily
