2016 Sustainability Report
Also in Paraguay, data from a mapping study done to identify areas of social and environmen- tal risks related to beef production supported a 2016 review of procedures as well as the cre- ation of control subsystems and of a monitoring platform to verify cattle suppliers.
For 2017, challenges continue along the lines of fostering increased public transparency of data in South America through tools that allow not only industries, but also consumers and stake- holders, to access information on social and environmental responsibility in production and food distribution chains.
Outlooks
e Company is aiming to increase livestock farmer mapping intelligence to survey the number and type of cattle, in addition to pos- sible regional risks. More assertive directing of procurement is therefore promoted, resulting in capital savings and lower Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to optimize transport routes. Another goal is to strengthen support for the cattle procurement operation, streamlining and providing information supplied by the Sustain- ability team, for strategic use in the procure- ment process. e Company will also reinforce its organized growth guideline, following sus- tainable livestock processes and procedures in new acquisitions.
