clients and colleagues. As our services focus on the areas of expert
consultations and legal investigations of personal injury, negligence and death
in civil, criminal and probate litigation - these are what our newsletters cover.

Protecting our Profession and Clients in Colorado’s Unlicensed Environment
On Saturday 07/11/2020 Colorado's governor vetoed HB20-1207 - Continuing the Private Investigator Licensure Act.
This effectively ends licensing and consumer protections in Colorado on 08/31/2020. The ink is barely dry on this
careless signature – but the need to be aware is important. Our agency has always been about Honesty, Integrity &
Intelligence – professionalism through standards and ethics. We are ready to help you protect yourself and your clients.
We are Committed to Client Confidence, and have formally adopted Standards in conjunction with our adopted Ethics.
You can find our Standards at www.DeathCaseReview.com/standards.

We also strongly encourage joining our state association – the Professional Private Investigators Association of Colorado
(www.PPIAC.org). As the only state association for professional investigators, with membership requiring a background
check and vetted applicants, and having levels from no experience (Apprentice) to having 2,000 hours (Associate), and
6,000 or more hours (Senior). In addition, there are monthly meetings and training speakers, 2-3 specialized training
sessions of 1-2 days throughout the year, and an annual 2-3 day conference (all held via Zoom at this time).

In the wake of being unable to see the veto face an override vote – because the state legislature leadership voted to end
the session after less than 80 days of a constitutionally required 120 session and before the veto – PPIAC immediately
began taking steps to assist members with developing continuity in their standards of practice and ethics. This is not
new, PPIAC has held several training sessions on these topics. What is new is a more focused series of guidance.

Why Was HB20-1207 - Continuing the Private Investigator Licensure Act - Vetoed?
