Special Update – and Thanks – from Dean and Karen
Our thanks to each of you for your encouragement and support during Dean’s recovery,
and making sure Karen has been managing well through this.
Four weeks after Dean’s very near fatal heart attack, our family got together,
as we often do. Each member played an important role in what happened –
they all noticed something wasn’t right, Karen called 911, Cameron directed
the ambulance to the room, everyone kept each other calm, Jeberly and
Winter drove Karen from one hospital to another and back to Colorado to take
care of the unexpected time away, the four grandkids all pitched in, and they
all came together to stay in a house (thanks to Dylan) in Lincoln during Dean’s
week hospitalization until he was discharged. They even celebrated Gage’s and
th
Cash’s 15 birthday. At home, the entire family continued to come together to
help Karen, and make sure Dean was recovering.
Seeing so many friends, colleagues, and clients from all over the country and
world send your encouragement, support, and generosity has been humbling
and grateful beyond words!

restrictions, and at his discretion
for driving, lifting, ect. – which still has limitations. His first cardiologist
follow-up was about six weeks post-op, where Dean and Karen learned
the very near fatal heart attack was much more serious than thought.
Thankfully the triple bypass has increased Dean’s heart function – ejection
fration – from 30% to 45% (normal range is 55-60%). Cardio rehab has
been ongoing and concludes this month – and will continue at home,
where Dean has done so every day. The recovery was rough, slow, and
challenging – and has now seen improvement every day and week. We
are very pleased with the progress, and better, and with no setbacks after Ogallala NE - Almost the last photo of Dean. Knowing
