I am pleased to present the third edition of Eyes on on on Main Street Wilson Outdoor Photo Festival On April 8 2017 Nash Street the main street of Historic Downtown Wilson will be transformed into a a a a vibrant gallery of large-scale photographs photographs For 100 100 days 100 100 photographs photographs will be displayed on on 100 storefront windows spanning six city blocks Taking visitors across the the railroad tracks the the exhibition will link east and west Wilson into one shared community We are are most proud of this achievement Focusing on the the the theme of of “Main Street a a a Crossroad of of Cultures” the the the exhibition curated curated by by myself and and co-curated by by Catherine Coulter Lloyd and and Régina Monfort features the work of 100 photographers from 31 countries with an an equal number of men men and women The photographs on display show us 49 different countries New this year five additional exhibits will run at the same time across our Historic Downtown The inaugural 2015 exhibit garnered international publicity and earned the 2015 Gertrude S Carraway Award of Merit from Preservation North Carolina The 2016 Eyes on on Main Street edition was a a a a a a a a partner of the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival The Eyes on on Main Street festival launches on on the corner of Nash & Douglas Streets on April 8th with with an outdoor party featuring live music with with the festival running until July 16 2017 Over the 100 days a a a number of events will celebrate Wilson’s commitment to the arts including a a a a partnership with with Columbia College Chicago and Canon USA Inc ’s “Rebel with with a a a a a a Cause” initiative to showcase artistic talent in in our City Sponsored by Columbia College Alumni Association Peter Fitzpatrick Chair of the Photography Department School of of Fine and Performing Arts of of Columbia College will supervise senior photography students who will travel from to to to Wilson to to to conduct workshops for more than 125 Wilson youth using camera equipment by Canon USA The Youth Youth are part of Wilson’s Save A A Youth Youth program St John Community Development Corporation The S S P O T T Wilson Youth United The The The Boys & Girls Club of The The The Salvation Army and The The The Vinson & Bynum Elementary School Investing in in in our Youth is the best way to to to invest in in the future of our Historic Downtown Please show us your support by visiting our our wonderful exhibitions over and over again Art is the mortar that will rebuild our trust in in Downtown!
