174 SPIRIT AND THE MIND
Sai Baba would sit here to watch the dance. Within seconds he was sitting right next to me!
I was stunned by this dramatic turn of events. Here was my big chance. But although able to approach him now, I hesitated — embarrassed about being in the midst of thousands while all eyes were turned to him, and uncomfortable in calling his attention from the students who were to dance in his honor.
Baba saves. He simply looked at me and smiled. “Should I present him with the book now?” I wondered. Answering my thoughts, Baba fixed his gaze on the book. What could I do but give it to him? Gently and with great love he accepted it, began to thumb through its pages, showed some of his students the pictures — told them that I was the author. He was happy with my efforts and my heart melted.
In closing, I pray that Baba makes us all instruments of his love — that he fills our lives with meaning and purpose — that he is happy with our offerings . . . and that he allows us to merge in his ocean of infinite love.
