Phyllis related the most extraordinary experience of Swami’s love coming through her aer she opened herself to his grace. While traveling home with Sidney aer seeing Swami in India, the plane landed for fuel in Bahrain. Upon reboarding the plane, she remarked to Sidney that the security control seemed quite light, in fact, non-existent. They seled into their seats. Aer the plane took off and reached its plateau, a number of unshaven and wild-looking men jumped up from their seats with guns raised and hijacked the plane. They were grisly as grisly could be, and fear permeated the atmosphere. Phyllis said you could smell fear in the air. The terrorists had strapped grenades to their bodies, put grenades up and down the aisle, and forcefully took everyone’s belongings.
As this was happening, Phyllis screamed inside herself for Swami’s protection. She was surprised that she felt no fear, and then heard an unusual reply, “Give them love.” Internally, she said to Swami, “But I can’t give them love, Swami. They want to kill all of us.” Then Phyllis thought that since she couldn’t send love to these terrorist hijackers, she would try to step aside and ask Swami to send his love to them. Internally, she felt herself step aside and, to her amazement, she felt love coming from her heart to these men. Of course, what kind of presence of mind could dear Phyllis have in a situation like this, to even aempt such a thing without Swami’s grace and love guiding her? By geing out of the way she could feel Swami’s love moving through her heart and into the plane.
Phyllis knew that the men were planning to force the pilot to fly over the ocean where they were going to blow up the plane. Incredibly, they changed their minds and directed the plane to Amsterdam. On the ground, the men set the plane on fire and, and as it started to burn with all of the explosives around, they changed their minds again and let all of the passengers leave. Phyllis jumped onto one of the chutes that extended from a hatchway, slid down, and landed safely. Fortunately police were able to gain control of the plane and put out the fire. The passengers were safe.
