 so disciplined and well- behaved that the crew wondered if they were repressing their natural drives and instincts when showing such respect, kindness, discipline, reverence, virtue, self- control, devotion, and steadiness. It was hard for the crew to believe that the natural state of the personality was imbued with this kind of goodness. Yet, the students seemed genuinely happy and the crew unanimously agreed that it was wonderful to be in their presence. From my contact with these students over the years I know them to be vibrant, expressive, balanced, and psychologically healthy.
One day during a discourse, Swami talked about the importance of discipline and self-control. He emphasized that no maer what your name, form, fame, family, friends, power, position, or property, your life was meaningless unless you loved God. He then talked about how glorious God is; God’s greatness is beyond any description. He said that the devotee who loves God and serves God is greater than God Himself. Given a devotee’s heart can
capture God, he is greater than God Himself.
Then Swami said that we might be disheartened by the
way the world looks. It looks like a runaway train. There is so
