5. See Sai Everywhere. As we develop a strong inner love for God, we must also find Him in the outer world by seeing Him in everyone and everything. How can we see a formless God in the physical world? A divine being with identifiable qualities and who is also universal can help bridge the gap. By virtue of His omnipresence and love we can find Him everywhere if we look. This is a way we stop seeing separateness and recognize the underlying oneness. The name “Sai” used in the heading emphasizes the importance of a divine being in reaching union with God and also refers to Swami’s divine nature that is beyond name and form. This universal aspect is the same as the divinity worshiped in any tradition and religion. In place of Sai, you may use any name of God that is most appealing.
Looking for Sai everywhere represents a profound change in the way we use our senses. The senses are not only to be passively used to perceive the external world, but are also to be actively used as a way of perceiving the sacredness of the world. Swami emphasizes sense control in the form of good speech, good hearing, and good vision, which comes from a sacred heart, a heart filled with love for God.3 It is this sacred heart that is to be projected onto the external
