INTRODUCTION TO TORCHIERES
One of the first lights used by humans were torch lights. Originally, they were made out of wooden sticks with some cloth wrapped around it. When they were dipped into a flammable liquid like plant or fish oil and then lit, they became torch lights. The Romans added sulphor and lime to the liquid and then the torch would not extinguish, even if dipped into water. They also were used in religious processions and over time, they became a symbol of hope and enlightenment.
The Statue of Liberty, enlightening the entrance to New York Harbour, is probably the most famous torch today.
Our torchiere lamps carry this tradition into the 21st century. They provide brilliant and ample light, but very efficiently with our new Q Series Light Engines. The series starts with Q6 and 2700 Lumens (Leipzig Series), Q9 and 4050 Lumens (Tampa Series), and last but not least Q12 and 5400 Lumens (Dubai Series). The CRI is > 95.
