GFB is also involved with a local non-profit 6 Stones that began a La LIGA Soccer league 6 years ago for 7th and 8th grade boys in our local school district that were considered lower income and at risk. Attendance has increased, grades have improved, and discipline problems have dropped. The Pilot Program was so successful that the Superintendent of the HEB ISD has asked that the program now be expanded to include girls on all the district Junior High campuses which GFB will be a part of moving forward. GFB continues to be involved and working with the Program Director as it expands.
In addition, GFB is currently working with the local Euless City Council and Euless Mayor and the large Nepalese population here. We will be holding a soccer minicamp where Sarah will be working with the children and then we will be distributing food locally. In addition to providing food and GFB soccer balls, we have Mission Soccer balls with the Gospel written on it in Nepalese language.
In 2023, our plan is to work in Northern Uganda in the Sudanese Refugee Camps with an organization called Seed Effect, which empowers Seed Effect members to provide for their families with dignity. Not a handout but an opportunity. This organization is U.S. based out of Dallas, Texas and Sarah and I have been asked to start an Advisory Board for this organization, which we have. We will be traveling to Northern Uganda in June 2023 where we will see firsthand the groups and how they operate within themselves for financial tools, the right to work and the support of their Christ-centered community. Goals For Bowls will then go on to an orphanage close by to take soccer balls, play and love on the children and provide food and funds for additional food while we are in the area.
