 over their compensation.
I have also found that women value a flexible schedule and a consistent work/life balance. Regularly rewarding them with extra PTO time and surprise long weekends has been very effective for our agency. We do a weekly digital and anonymous “suggestion box” (Polly.ai through Teams) each Friday. We ask for questions, complaints, and ideas for rewards and incentives they would like to see. Recognize
For many of us, being involved in our local community is part of the job. It is an honor to be recognized by community groups and by our peers in the industry. And extending these opportunities to agency staff has always been effective for us. Whether it's a local Rotary club,BNIgroup,orChamberofCommerce,it gives agency staff an opportunity to make their own mark while still representing your agency. I know many owners are reluctant to have employees involved in the community for fear of losing them to a competitor. I truly believe this mindset should be left in the past. Create an amazing culture, recognize people for their hard work, and most will want to stay and be part of what you are creating.
Like many other agency owners, I’ve enjoyed the freedom, flexibility, and lifestyle this industry brings. I am proud of the business I have built and the impact my investment is making in our local community. But without a doubt, the key to my success has been creating a company culture that empowers, rewards, and recognizes the women (and men) who have built this business with me.
