9. I’d like to be assessed.
a) You need to see Jenn Brewer and then you call me. Her info is in the newsletter. Your family doctor sends a requisition to Dr. Lisi at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.
10. Can you get government assistance to cover the cost of a belt?
a) It depends on your situation. I have done a number for people on ODSP, working with their caseworker who approves it and arranges for payment direct to me. If you have benefits, I will word the receipt however your company wants to see it, e.g., abdominal support belt.
11. Comment.
Comment from Lori Zozzolotto, NSWOC, Clinical Specialist at Convatec: Some ostomates think they can’t exercise once they have a stoma. Our Me+ program has an exercise program for ostomates in our Recovery Series that people can work through before or after your surgery. It’s a 3-booklet series written by Sarah Russell, an elite triathlete and ostomate. They’re free; you don’t have to be
a ConvaTec client. Just call 1-800-465-6302. Wearing a belt, exercising and watching your weight together is a great way to avoid hernias.
Mo asked members to think about two fundraising options for the camp:
} A garage sale in August if restrictions permit and someone can offer us a site.
} A virtual 649. $10 for 10 tickets, play till someone gets them all, split the pot 50/50 with the Camp Fund, which currently stands at $1167. Unfortunately, no camp will be held this year.
This month’s Jeopardy was a bit more accessible.
Congrats to Bob Thiffault & Doug Sellery who won OASC coasters for getting 2 answers right each.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
