Have you also a telephone which transmits - a no wire phone? I must find out how it receives the signals I send.’
‘Lets turn the T.V. off and go into my bedroom. We’ll be safe there and I want to try something.’
As they perched on her bed together she mused. ‘So ... I think I’m beginning to see what you can do, Mobo. Well ... I can’t really see how you do it, but what you did back there with the T.V. was totally amazing. They work on radio waves don’t they? Then it gets translated into a picture by the set ... what you see must work like a camera - a moving camera. Could you send pictures or movies to a mobile phone as well?’
‘Yes Ronnie, but I must know to whom I transmit. We must know how the signal is received to tell if we have transmission correct - or it will not receive as we wish.’ Ronnie realised that he was trying to tell her that he was not up to making calls yet and was a bit disappointed. He went on with his speech, looking about as serious as a cute, fluffy bird can.
‘I have received and studied long. Often, I fly high where air is clear and hills do not make signal into mud. I send - but cannot tell how my transmission is received by human tools - now know television - time here is satisfactory.’
‘Mobo! Are you saying that you birds send out signals but you can’t control them? All those weird phonecalls people get - when you can’t tell whether anyone is there, all the text messages that are total nonsense, it’s probably you and your friends practising!’
