MUSIC REVIEWS
Louk & Dante [UK] - Hard Techno & Trance
Konstantin Sibold - Mutter [Running Back] - Zone Top Tune - 10/10
This one certainly took me by surprise when I heard Sven Vath play it last week in Holland (in amongst him watching the football like a true legend!). After my girlfriend was kind enough to film a video of this track I immediately posted it online and very kindly had the name given to me and immediately ordered a copy of the vinyl before I came back to the UK. What stands out for me is that this is has all the hallmarks of a techno record, but you can see Konstantin has given a nod to the early days of the Omen in Frankfurt when Trance and Techno were blurred as this has one hell of a gorgeous melody that you can liken to one of the glorious Harthouse and Eye Q records of old. I will be playing this all summer!

Mauro Picotto + Ricardo Ferri - Assault Area [Alchemy] - Zone Recommended Tune - 9/10
One thing I miss about the days of the late nineties and early 2000s was that initial buzz and wait you'd get from hearing a track and then wanting it to come out, it's been replaced by the disposable want everything now consumerism factor that dominates society. So it's a pleasure when you hear a track and are itching for it to come out and then it finally does. Mauro must have had about five messages from me regarding this tune, a frenetic slice of drum fuelled chaos with a groovy bassline and tonnes of energy that really does pack a mean punch! We're off to Spain in a few weeks where I am sure this will be getting a caining in some of the early morning sets. Check it out!

Ritzi Lee - Audiologics EP [Mord] - Zone Rating - 8/10
I've been championing Ritzi Lee's material for years, the man lives and breathe techno and knows exactly what makes a killer production to really twist up some heads! We caught up recently for a few beers to watch the diabolical England vs Iceland match and talk techno, and regular readers to these reviews will know I have also been championing Mord Records as well. It was inevitable the that the two would work together on something rather special. On 'Audiologics' EP we are treated to four rather wonderful grooves, with 'Framework' and 'Traction' keeping the harder, industrial vibe there to really cause havoc on a dancefloor! Check out his wicked release on Bek Audio too, excellent stuff.

Floorplan - Victorious [M_Plant] - Zone Rating - 8/10
Robert Hood's wicked Floorplan alias delivers a wonderful album to follow up to 2013's 'Paradise', and with an obvious ode to early Detroit and Chicago techno tracks of the late eighties throughout. I've been caining the wonderful 'Mmm Hmm Hmm' which could have easily been an early Trax Records or KMS release, and the disco loop infused 'Spin', which are the standout favourites here, but also worthy of a mention is the B-Traits' championed 'Music', that takes the album on a house fuelled Loletta Holloway sampling groove that is perfect for setting the mood early on. There is something for everybody here on all eleven tracks and the diversity is rife just like Robert's awesome DJ sets!

Frankyeffe - Crazy Man (The Advent + Industryalizer Mix) [Riot] - Zone Rating - 7/10
Oof, there has been a wonderful amount of new music this month. I love it when you can sense Summer is well and truly coming by the amount of festival fuelled gems that come firing from all cylinders. A few months back I reviewed Frankyeffe's wicked album and here Portugal's very own The Advent + Industryalizer go straight for the big room on his 'Crazy Man' track. Dark and dirty detuned synths, layer upon layer of awesome percussion and an overwhelming feeling of energy from the word go make this one something special. Let's not forget the cut up vocals and a monster of a kick drum. The other remixes on this EP are worth checking too, leaving you spoilt for choice.
